An Unpopular Opinion of My Own
WARNING: Depressing material
I’d like to make a certain point very clear:
Depression, Cutting, and Suicide are serious. They are not thoughts to be advertised on your blog. There is no glamour and no beauty in it.
I’m sick of the lonely pictures, the bloody images, and suicidal messages, and not because I’m oblivious to their existence.
If you have one of these problems, I’m sorry. It’s unpleasant. I know. And I’m also familiar with the fact that as it is YOUR blog, you have the right to post whatever you please, but this is not about individual opinions or a blog that reflects you. It is about the very basis of depression.
Respect that some people suffer, that some people have to cope, that some people are trying to recover.
Shots of people’s bleeding wrists are not glamorous. There is NOTHING glamorous about it. It’s upsetting and difficult to deal with and scars are no mark of honor. No vignetting, cross-processing, or photo effects will ever convince me otherwise.
Ask for help if you need it, deal with it on your own if you need to. Confide in friends, I understand.
But don’t make light of an issue. Don’t ever pretend that depression has become admirable, or that creating your own misery is a good thing.
People are fighting it right now.
